Chengdu (成都), the provincial capital of Sichuan province, is the most important hub and populous city among in the southwest region of China. It is home to various ethnicities and religions in absolute harmony. The Tibetan buddhists live harmoniously with the Han and Muslim population. It is also one of the oldest historical cities in China with hundreds to thousands of old villages and towns dating back to to almost 3,000 years ago.
While the old town of Chengdu still thrives with the culture since the Three Kingdoms, a massively modern town is built in the southern part of the city with an extensive underground network and wide automobile roads. The new town is intended to be an incubator city of high-tech and financial hub in the southwestern part of the country.
