The Dujiangyan Irrigation Water Town (都江堰), built around 250 B.C. during the Qin dynasty, a town near Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan province of China, stands as one of the earliest, largest water diversion and massive irrigation systems in the world. It is still in critical function for reducing flood since more than 2000 years by distributing water evenly to the entire country of China, while irrigating the areas of drought.

It was also named as the Town of Irrigation (灌县).

The beautifully handcrafted bridges, and the old town architecture, blend harmoniously together with the irrigation river systems. The melody of the river flow could be heard at every corner in this petite town of harmony. It sits as a witness of human wisdom and the art of science.

A temple (二王庙) was built by citizens of the time to commemorate the father and son after their deaths, who dedicated their lives in designing and coordinating the project. The residents today are still holding ceremonies annually in worship of their contribution.
